TASTING NOTES
A captivating nose of blackberry and dark cherry fruits with mocha and chocolate oak character. The medium weight palate has savoury berry flavours, robust tannins and a long finish.
SEASON
This wine is from a single high-performing block at Highbow Hill Vineyard. The wine was aged in French oak barriques, 40 per cent new, for 15 months. The fruit was hand harvest in late-March/early April and fermented in static red fermenters.
WINEMAKING
This is a monoclonal wine of G9V3 Cabernet Sauvignon, an unfashionable clone in some circles, but in this vineyard, on this hill, a superb example of the variety.
Highbow Hill Vineyard is made up of 40 hectares of established vines planted on rolling hills just north of the Yarra Valley. The name Highbow Hill Vineyard is derived from the local landscape feature High Bow Hill, which is the dominant feature on the eastern boundary of the property.
Soils are sandy loam over clay and gravel over mudstone.
The long driveway meanders through the vines to the residence and provides uninterrupted views of the lake-sized dam and surrounding panorama.
These rare single vineyard wines are only released in the finest vintages as the best of the best from our carefully managed vineyards.
The labels each feature a collection of objects from the vineyard the wine was grown.
The landscape of Highbow Hill Vineyard features established vines planted on rolling hills. Eucalyptus and gum trees are widespread with a diverse range of soils ranging from sandy loam to yellow clays.
