TASTING NOTES
From mature vines at our vineyard in the heart of the Barossa Valley, this is a fine example of Australia’s most famous wine style: full-bodied with rich, ripe fruit, savoury oak and soft tannin.
SEASON
It was a warm season and harvest was very early, the earliest on record in some vineyards. Most vineyards saw a return to average or slightly above-average yields and fruit quality was outstanding. Rainfall was below average and our vines benefitted from the new irrigation system at our Watunga Road Vineyard.
WINEMAKING
The fruit was hand harvested in early March in warm, dry weather. It was destemmed and fermented in open and static fermenters with pump over and hand plunging. The wine was matured for 18 months in a mix of old and new French oak.
Australia’s oldest and best known wine region, the Barossa Valley is a warm climate region famous for bold Shiraz wines.
It has some of the world’s oldest vines and a deep and enduring winemaking heritage. Summers are typically warm and dry and most rainfall occurs in winter and spring.
The Collection series are a set of premium wines from hand-picked regions around the world – each crafted to reflect a supreme sense of place and exceptional character.
The labels each feature a unique photographed object collected from the region the wine was grown, designed to present a story of the region's distinct characteristics.
This earth is typical of the striking red soils found in the Barossa Valley. With Shiraz plantings that are among the world’s oldest, the Barossa is an iconic wine region.
