TASTING NOTES
This is a distinctive Mornington Peninsula Pinot Noir with captivating floral aromas, fresh berry and cherry fruit flavours and silky tannin. A medium-bodied wine, it has excellent depth of colour and flavour with a touch of spicy oak complexity.
SEASON
The 2019 season was warm and very dry. Harvest was early and meticulous attention to develop ripeness and harvest timing was rewarded with balanced fruit of great flavour intensity and fresh natural acidity.
WINEMAKING
The fruit is from two vineyards to the north of the region, including Handpicked’s flagship Capella Vineyard. The fruit was hand-picked and chilled overnight before being destemmed and sorted by hand. The must was fermented in small open fermenters with hand plunging. The wine was matured for 11 months in a mix of old and new French oak barrels from selected Burgundian coopers.

A maritime region about 50km south-east of Melbourne. It is surrounded by ocean and the climate is moderated year-round, with cooling ocean breezes in summer and relatively mild winters.
Soils vary from the red volcanic earth on the spine of hills running down the centre of the peninsula to grey clay loams on the plains.
A collection of classic varieties grown in the earth that suits them best. Each wine is a reflection of their region.
The labels feature an abstract hand-print illustration designed to evoke the distinct personality of the country from which the wine originates.
This abstract hand is representative of the heart of Australia, the wildness and terroir of the land and its iconic red centre.
