TASTING NOTES
The Yarra Valley is known for refined, medium-weight Cabernets wines. This is a great example with flavours of black and red berries and plenty of fine tannin.
SEASON
Vintage 2017 was a long, relatively mild season in the Yarra Valley. Yields were around average. Calm weather with warm days and cool nights continued long into autumn, allowing extended hang time for Cabernet fruit to achieve excellent maturity and deep flavour development. Harvest was around two weeks later than the long-term average.
WINEMAKING
The fruit was handpicked and destemmed then vinified in overhead fermenters with pumping over. The wine was aged for 17 months in a mix of old and new French oak before blending and bottling.
One of Australia’s premier cool climate wine regions, the Yarra Valley encompasses such diverse topography that it can produce premium quality fruit in a range of grape varieties.
With its stunning hills and dales ranged before a backdrop of blue mountains, elevations vary greatly. The climate is Mediterranean with a maritime influence from Port Phillips.
