2020 Collection Mornington Peninsula Chardonnay - 92 Points

Acidity is in the driver’s seat, racy and fresh, but also keeping the palate very tight and lean. It feels as if more flavour is needed to bolster the palate. That might come about in time. Drink 2022 - 2027. Jane Faulkner, Halliday Wine Companion 2022

2020 Wombat Creek Vineyard Chardonnay - 95 Points

An intense and electrifying wine thanks to its overt acidity, yet the power of fruit can hold its own. It’s also flinty, smoky, loaded with grapefruit and lemon juice plus zest, with toasty oak that’s well integrated. It’s youthful and still in its high-energy phase, a bit more time in bottle will allow some mellowing. Of course, plenty will go for the style immediately as it’s super-refreshing. Drink 2023 - 2030. Jane Faulkner, Halliday Wine Companion 2023

2020 Highbow Hill Vineyard Chardonnay - 93 Points

A perky, high-acid wine that’s as piercing as laser light, a touch nervy and needs time to integrate fully. The oak and creamy lees are way in the background, but they add some depth to this tightly wound wine. Drink 2023 - 2030. Jane Faulkner, Halliday Wine Companion 2023

THE REGION

THE REGION

Mornington Peninsula

A maritime region about 50km south-east of Melbourne. It is surrounded by ocean and the climate is moderated year-round, with cooling ocean breezes in summer and relatively mild winters.

Soils vary from the red volcanic earth on the spine of hills running down the centre of the peninsula to grey clay loams on the plains.

Wombat Creek Vineyard

Wombat Creek is the most elevated vineyard in the Yarra Valley (at 550m), making it uniquely situated for growing premium cool climate Chardonnay and Pinot Noir.

The vineyard is made up of 6-hectares of Chardonnay and 10-hectares of Pinot Noir and soils of free-draining volcanic loams.

The surrounding fern gullies and forest are home to lyrebirds, koalas, kangaroos and, of course wombats.

Highbow Hill Vineyard

Highbow Hill Vineyard is made up of 40 hectares of established vines planted on rolling hills just north of the Yarra Valley. The name Highbow Hill Vineyard is derived from the local landscape feature High Bow Hill, which is the dominant feature on the eastern boundary of the property.

Soils are sandy loam over clay and gravel over mudstone.

The long driveway meanders through the vines to the residence and provides uninterrupted views of the lake-sized dam and surrounding panorama.
