2019 Collection Margaret River Cabernet Sauvignon - 93 Points

100% cabernet. There’s no denying its regional stamp with mulberries, ironstone, cassis and leafy freshness setting the foundation. Violets, bitter chocolate, green walnut and sweet, spicy cedar oak add a certain depth to the full-bodied palate, as do the plentiful tannins. Drink 2023 - 2034. 2020 Collection Heathcote Shiraz - 95 Points

Fruit comes off 2 unnamed yet disparate sites – one northern and warmer, the other southern and cooler. Destemmed, hand sorted, 2 weeks on skins and aged in French puncheons, 30% new, for 11 months. An excellent dark red with a purple tinge; dark plums, bay leaves, sweet cedary oak, baking spices and an earthy ferrous note set the regional and varietal flavours. It’s deep, rich and concentrated, with plush savoury tannins sashaying across the full-bodied palate, yet this doesn’t feel weighty. It’s complex, detailed and refreshing in its own way. Heathcote

Heathcote’s growing reputation for superior Shiraz wines is based on its ancient dirt. These old, hungry soils produce naturally low yields of powerfully-flavoured and deeply coloured fruit.

The textured, red clays, known as Cambrian Greenstone run around the Mount Camel Range with vineyards planted in the shadow of its modest peaks.
