2020 Collection Mornington Peninsula Chardonnay - 92 Points
Acidity is in the driver’s seat, racy and fresh, but also keeping the palate very tight and lean. It feels as if more flavour is needed to bolster the palate. That might come about in time. Drink 2022 - 2027. Jane Faulkner, Halliday Wine Companion 2022
2020 Wombat Creek Vineyard Chardonnay - 95 Points
An intense and electrifying wine thanks to its overt acidity, yet the power of fruit can hold its own. It’s also flinty, smoky, loaded with grapefruit and lemon juice plus zest, with toasty oak that’s well integrated. It’s youthful and still in its high-energy phase, a bit more time in bottle will allow some mellowing. Of course, plenty will go for the style immediately as it’s super-refreshing. Drink 2023 - 2030. Jane Faulkner, Halliday Wine Companion 2023
2020 Highbow Hill Vineyard Chardonnay - 93 Points
A perky, high-acid wine that’s as piercing as laser light, a touch nervy and needs time to integrate fully. The oak and creamy lees are way in the background, but they add some depth to this tightly wound wine. Drink 2023 - 2030. Jane Faulkner, Halliday Wine Companion 2023
2021 Regional Selections Yarra Valley Rose - 95 Points
Sangiovese and nebbiolo come together to form this ultra-pale copper-hued rosé. It’s delicious. Lightly aromatic, a squirt of red berries, a sprinkle of fresh basil and lemon balm with lemony freshness guaranteed. A juiciness across the palate, a mere hint of tannins to add some shape but ultimately, this is crisp, racy and seemingly thirst quenching. Drink 2022 - 2023. Jane Faulkner, Halliday Wine Companion 2023
2019 Collection Margaret River Cabernet Sauvignon - 93 Points
100% cabernet. There’s no denying its regional stamp with mulberries, ironstone, cassis and leafy freshness setting the foundation. Violets, bitter chocolate, green walnut and sweet, spicy cedar oak add a certain depth to the full-bodied palate, as do the plentiful tannins. Drink 2023 - 2034. Jane Faulkner, Halliday Wine Companion
2020 Collection Heathcote Shiraz - 95 Points
Fruit comes off 2 unnamed yet disparate sites – one northern and warmer, the other southern and cooler. Destemmed, hand sorted, 2 weeks on skins and aged in French puncheons, 30% new, for 11 months. An excellent dark red with a purple tinge; dark plums, bay leaves, sweet cedary oak, baking spices and an earthy ferrous note set the regional and varietal flavours. It’s deep, rich and concentrated, with plush savoury tannins sashaying across the full-bodied palate, yet this doesn’t feel weighty. It’s complex, detailed and refreshing in its own way. Drink 2022 - 2030. Jane Faulkner, Halliday Wine Companion
