Collaborations

Handpicked is a wine brand that prides itself on “doing things differently” - making traditional fine wine with the same passion and hands on approach of any quality family winery, but across many regions.

It is a logistically challenging model fuelled by the excitement to create something different, driven by our winemaker Pete and our founder William. It is a hands on and entrepreneurial wine business with a very passionate small team.

There are synergies between wine and the arts. For an exhibition launch, a fashion runway, or an opening night of film or theatre, wine is a natural accompaniment to celebration and conversation. From a production point of view, there are similarities. Whether it’s long hours in a cold, muddy vineyard, months in a studio or weeks on a shoot, a lot of hard work goes in to bringing together something curated and beautiful that people can then enjoy.

We believe strongly in businesses and organisations that are pushing the boundaries and doing things differently to bring more colour, more excitement and more joy into life. This is why we hold multi-year partnerships with many wonderful cultural organisations. We are proud to be a small part of these wonderful events and experiences.

BELVOIR

ARTS / CULTURE

Based in an old factory on Gadigal land, Sydney, Belvoir St Theatre is one of Australia’s most celebrated and beloved theatre companies. Since 1984, when a group of 600 theatre-lovers came together to buy a theatre and save it from becoming an apartment block, Belvoir has been at the forefront of Australian storytelling for the stage. Each year the company presents an annual season of shows for this now-iconic corner stage. New work and new stories sit at the centre of Belvoir’s programming, alongside a mix of reinvented classics and international writing, and a foundational commitment to Indigenous stories. In short, Belvoir is about theatrical invention, an open society, and faith in humanity.

MIFF

MIFF is one of the world’s oldest film festivals alongside Cannes, presenting a curated global program of innovative screen experiences, through exceptional filmmaking. Handpicked has been delighted to partner the festival experience since 2020, sharing in community connectedness and adventure that’s bold and entertaining, shared values held with this iconic Australian event.

ACMI has a vibrant calendar of exhibitions, screenings, commissions, festivals, and industry and education programs that Handpicked is proud to support and partner into 2024. The purpose of this partnership is more relevant than ever where the cultures of screen, moving image and wine come together in connecting our society, communities and our organisations.

Sydney Film Festival

Sydney Film Festival is an exciting 12 days of films, where Handpicked wine flows freely into the hands of artists, filmmakers and engaged cinema buffs. The world’s best films alongside some of the world’s most expressive and characterful wines creates an inspiring and connected cultural partnership where communities meld and share in the joy of adventurous screen experiences.

Opera Australia

ARTS / CULTURE

The three-year deal sees us partner for year-round Opera Australia performances at the Sydney Opera House, Arts Centre Melbourne and QPAC Brisbane and not only includes pouring our award-winning wine at the venues, but also a range of collaborative events and experiences across Australia’s principal opera company.
