The party might be off, but the Truffle Festival will go on! The truffles are still sleepily ripening in the chilly soils at Black Cat Truffles in Wattle Flat, where Winston and Lottie, two dogs who have never even heard of COVID, are raring to go hunting. When Handpicked Cellar Door reopens at 8am on Friday 11 June there will be truffles galore:

- The Black Cat Truffles pop-up shop - selling fresh truffles and truffle products

- New truffle menu - truffle mac ‘n’ cheese, truffle backed camembert and truffle toasties

Black Cat has partnered with us this year to bring us their famous, limited and highly sought after fresh truffles. Buy them on the night to take home as well as a host of other satiating, delectable goodies like truffle Pecorino, Brillat Savarin a la Truffle, truffle salami and truffle tapenade. You can even purchase a truffle slicer and for one night only during our festival period, you can receive special members only pricing on wine & truffle packs to take home.

DID YOU KNOW?

A very large truffle, that actually has been ranked as the most expensive, was sold at $330,000. It was found in Croatia and auctioned in 1999. Truffles typically weigh anywhere from 1 to 2.8 ounces, so the enormous sized truffles are something to be revelled in. Famous chefs will gather from all over the world to participate in these high-end auctions, whether they are there to just get a glimpse of history, or are serious bidders. This was a truffle to be remembered and is considered the most expensive ever.
